Reflective Learning

The main important skills required to complete this assignment is interpersonal skills such as communication. Without communication our assignment wouldn't be going anywhere. Proper communication was done to ensure which group members were supposed to do which part. Therefore the assignment could be carried out with success. The next important skill required is technology savvy to understand the AutoCad program. Without understanding that program we couldn't draw the layout of the restaurant. The most challenging part when working in a group is gathering to meet and discuss the assignment. Everybody had their own free time and busy times. Therefore planning a time to meetup was difficult. Another thing that was difficult was communications. Our group had our misunderstanding now and then but we managed to overcome it. The best part of working in a group I would say is taking advantage of each other's strengths, and covering up for each other's weaknesses. Each of us individual had strengths for the assignment. For me, example I could elaborate on given points, therefore I was put in charge of writing the report. Job delegations were done to split the job and make our work load less. I felt that my leader in the group did a great job in separating the workload and planning out the structure of the assignment. Therefore as a group member I was there to support my leader. For example my leader took charge and responsibilities to draw the layout of the restaurant using AutoCad. I backed him up when he needed advise or help on drawing the layout. I feel that the thing I could do differently for this assignment was be the one in charge to draw the layout instead. This is because I feel that I am more capable  to draw because I understand how the AutoCad works. I feel that working with course mates from different backgrounds teaches me a lot of things about other people although they might be hard to understand because they have their own opinions. I think I did not do well in the time management part of the assignment because I took a longer time than expected to do the assignment. I had to hand in to my friend to compile the day before but I only managed to complete it the day after. This was because it wasn't easy finding information, and I had other assignments pending. I think I should improve on my interpersonal skills and discipline specific knowledge. This is because I have worked with group members that I do not know very well therefore it is hard to have proper communications and teamwork. Therefore I should brush up on my interpersonal skills by meeting more people and working together with them more. As for the discipline specific knowledge, I should find out in depth how I can fully utilize the AutoCad, as well as the hotel planning and design subject. I believe it would really give me an advantage in my career because it is an added knowledge. In the future if I become the leader in charge of planning out a hotel layout, it would be easier for me to do because I will have experience. Before that I would need to read up on more books related to this subject to get a deeper understanding to brush up my discipline specific knowledge skills.
